FIVE YEARS AND COUNTING!

Today marks five years for Adam and I. Thats right, five years ago we stood in front of our family and friends and said “I DO!” In memory of that, I thought I would share a little bit of our wedding story with you.

I woke up to my car drifted over in snow. Truly- I could not see it. My bridesmaids flew in with comforting words. We barely made the drive to the salon. It was the biggest snowstorm of the year. All morning my phone kept ringing with people telling me they could not make it. All airports were closed and highways were in the worst conditions. After a while I stopped answering my phone. A little elderly women sitting next to me at the salon whispered to her stylist, “what an awful day to get married.” Her whisper was a little too loud.
We got to the ceremony site and things were well on their way. Decorating in full swing, photos started. Then my flowers arrived, frozen. Luckily I did not know about that until they were defrosted and I really did not seem to care when they were totally dead in an hour later. The music started way too early, stopped and then was restarted. I forgot my vows. Literally! My bridesmaid had to leave during the ceremony to go find them. Then, to top it all off, the pastor did not say, “you may kiss the bride.” This was the ONLY thing I REALLY wanted him to say and specifically made it clear the night before- being the bridezilla that I TOTALLY was. 🙂 So, I dodged Adams lips and made the pastor say the words. I believe it came out something like, ” Oh geez… you may now kiss your bride.”
I know, I know, you are all thinking this was a nightmare of a wedding. But it wasn’t. It was perfect for Adam and I. It was the start of a marriage teaching us that life does not always go as planned but in the end it works out in Gods perfect plan. We laughed the entire day and laugh to this day when we watch the video. We danced through the night with our dearest family and friends who all got 2 meals because so many people did not show.
Most importantly to me 🙂 our photographs were perfect and full of snow! Plus, I did not have to have people standing outside the windows throwing fake snow to give the illusion of a perfect white wedding- which I was sooo prepared to do. Remember people- Bridezilla.
Here is a video sample of the kiss your bride moment and to show you how cold it was! 🙂 Sorry about the quality- bad video to begin with and Im taking a video of the video…
