Labor started late Sunday night and I went back and forth wondering if it was the real thing. At about 3:30 am it kicked into high gear and my contractions were very suddenly about 2 and 3 minutes apart. I totally freaked out thinking I was going to have the baby at home! We rushed to the hospital, not paying attention to speed limits and red lights. Once we got here I knew I wanted an epidural and fast. It was so different than Lucys labor and so much more painful. I have horrible veins and apparently and very boney spine… so after lots and LOTS and LOTS more picks and pokes of trial and error I got my epidural at 9 cm! It was late but it still helped.

At 6:17 am we were shocked to find out we had another little girl. We had both been convinced we were having a boy. CONVINCED! So even though we had a girl name it was not going to be needed. WRONG! Once we saw her precious face we knew our name for her was all wrong so for the first 10 hours she was nameless.

Ruby Mae Hanson is our gorgeous little girl and we could not be happier. She just looks like a little Ruby to us and Mae is after Adams grandma. She is perfect in every way. I know every mommy thinks her baby is the most gorgeous but she really is! She was 6 pounds 8 ounces and 18.5 inches long.

A little laugh: When Lucy met Ruby she just so happened to be wearing a little red hat from the hospital. I said, “Lucy come see what mama has.” She looked and said, “ELMO!” She has quite a shock coming home… a new sister who cries, spits up and steals so much attention is a far cry from Elmo!

We just want to say that God is so great and we feel so blessed for the gift of Ruby. Thanks to everyone for your well wishes and congratulations.

In other exciting news… I can see my feet again! 😉
